Sapphos of Lesbos

in honor
of the birthday of
Sapphos of Lesbos,
the famous Greek lyric poet,
September 7th 621 bc. Sappho
was known for her lyric poetry, she
wrote love poems addressed to both
women and men, Sappho has long been
considered bisexual. The word "lesbian"
derives from the name of the island of
her birth, Lesbos; her name is also the
origin of its less common synonym
